We offer a wide range of French language courses, whether you need to learn French for private or for professional reasons.
There is a variety in intensity and length of the courses, and they all have in common the aim at autonomy and communication. Classes are in small groups (10 people maximum) during the whole year with a focus on oral communication.
For all our French courses in Aix-en-Provence the minimum age is 18 years, except for the closed groups where we can accept younger students.
Tailor-made programmes for individuals and closed groups
Tailor-made programmes for universities, colleges, schools or professional groups. Every year we welcome closed groups of companies, universities and schools for whom we have designed a tailor-made programme according to the goals and needs of the group. Duration, number of lessons, pedagogical programme and activities, size of the group, level and dates are to be defined together for an individual quote.

This General French intensive course offers language lessons in the mornings and theme workshops in smaller groups in the afternoons to broaden your skills; French civilization, conversation, creative workshops, activities outside the institute, phonetics, grammatical reinforcement, games...

French for Exam & Professional Purposes
For all our French courses on specific objectives we ask the participants to fill in a questionnaire on beforehand in order to prepare the course according to your needs and goals. This way you'll get the best of your French courses in France.

This option is designed for students who take the General French course (FG) or the Long French course (FL) and who wish to prepare for the DALF exam.
The course consists of two parts : in the morning the group course of your choice (FG or FL) and, during afternoon, private lessons as well as tutoring, both focused on the students individual goals to help the student prepare intensively for the DALF exam.
Group size : 1 Duration : 2 weeks renewable up to max 8 weeks Lessons : 4 private courses per week (in afternoons) + tutoring Levels : intermediate 2 to advanced (B2-C1)

This French Teachers course is a linguistic, methodological and socio-cultural course designed for non francophone French teachers working and living abroad.
It will give you an onfield experience and confront you with the evolution of the language and the French society, to take in the changes that are redesigning the France of tomorrow, to resource yourself and also… to relax.
It combines the General French group course with pedagogical and methodological workshops in the afternoons.
This program is designed for students who wish to extend their learning period and their knowledge of the French language over a long time.
The program is based on the curriculum of preparation for the DELF (Diplôme d’Etude de Langue Française) and gives the possibility of taking the DELF exam in Aix University or any other city and the TCF at IS Aix-en-Provence, depending on the dates.
The participants are adults with at least an elementary level (A2) or two years of active French, who want to express themselves with greater ease, for professional or personal reasons.
This extensive French course is designed for young au pairs and other non francophone residents of our region who wish to take French lessons over a long period of time in addition to their main activity.
We give priority to international groups which encourage intercultural exchanges and the use of French as the common language.

A combination of French courses in the morning and a choice of optional activity courses in the afternoon.
Payable to IS Aix-en-Provence (including 20% VAT) and to combine with Français Général (FG) course or with 20 lessons of Cours Particuliers (CP) per week.
These optional French and activity courses are designed for adults of all levels from A1 who wish to complete their French course by an activity allowing them to put into practice their knowledge of the French language.
This option allows you to practice French and to discover the artistic offer of the city of Aix-en-Provence through visits in museum and other places of culture and art of the city. Our teachers lead small international groups in a dynamic, lively, and friendly in order to enhance cultural exchanges.
Programme : Introduction and presentation of the museums and exhibitions to be visited, four visits (two per week) with a teacher in museums or other artistic places of the city of Aix-en-Provence in regards of the exhibition of the moment. Each visit is prepared with an introduction by the teacher, two visits end with a drink/coffee in order to exchange and discuss impressions

This option allows you to practice French while discovering Provence, its products and its countryside through various activities.
Programme: A guided city tour ; A class of introduction to the traditions and cultures of Provence ; A visit to Cézanne’s painting studio ; Two workshops to discover two different local products ; A half day’s excursion on the Mediterranean coast ; One full day excursion in Provence.
Group size: minimum 4 participants Duration: 2 weeks on specific dates and includes approximately 20h of activities in total over the 2 weeks (afternoons/weekend) Levels: elementary to advanced (A1-C1) - No beginners
This option allows you to practice French and to initiate yourself to Provencal cooking while participating to cooking workshops and to local products tasting.
Programme: A class of introduction and presentation of typical products of Provence ; A class of presentation and tasting of Provencal cheeses; A presentation of Provencal wines followed by a tasting; A discovery of one typical Provencal product: the “Calisson” ; Two cooking workshops followed by a tasting ; A discovery of the Provencal market followed by a cooking workshop.

This option allows you to practice French while discovering the countryside of Aix-en-Provence, its natural sites, its vegetation and its culture on foot.
The excursions are led by professional guides who love their region and their job. You have to love walking and bring good shoes! (Hiking shoes (or equivalent) are highly recommended).
Programme: An afternoon’s walk following Cézanne’s footsteps to the Sainte-Victoire; An afternoon’s walk in the Domain of Beaulieu, a vineyard developing also other activities linked to the soil. The domain is situated on the unique volcano in Provence ; An afternoon’s walk in the Vauvenargues area, where Picasso spent the last years of his life; A full day’s walk in the National Park of the “calanques”, the rocky creeks of the Mediterranean Sea allowing you to discover the very typical vegetation of this area.
