French Courses and Activities
Payable to IS Aix-en-Provence (including 20% VAT) and to combine with General French (FG) course or with 20 lessons of Private lessons (CP) per week.
These optional French and activity courses are designed for adults of all levels from A1 who wish to complete their French course by an activity allowing them to put into practice their knowledge of the French language
Optional Course: Discover Provence (DP)
This option allows you to practice French while discovering Provence, its products and its countryside through various activities.
Objectives
- Discover Provence, its historical and cultural heritage, its food and its particularities
- Visiting Aix-en-Provence and the city’s cultural offerings
- Visiting selected sites of the region
Program
- A guided city tour
- Introduction to the traditions and cultures of Provence
- A visit to Cézanne’s painting studio
- Two workshops to discover different local products
- A half day’s excursion on the Mediterranean coast
- One full day excursion in Provence
Schedule
Organized by IS Aixen-Provence to fully accommodate the French classes (some afternoons and one day during the weekend).

- Minimum 4 participants (1 to 3 participants : the number of lessons and activities can be slightly modified, but the spirit of the option is maintained).

Optional Course: Discover Provence on foot (DPP)
This option allows you to practice French while discovering on foot the countryside of Aix-enProvence, its natural sites, its vegetation and its culture. Professionals in love with their region accompany the outings.
Objectives
- Discover the natural and cultural heritage of Provence on foot through hiking and walks with a professional guide
Program
- Two afternoons walk following Cézanne’s footsteps to the Sainte-Victoire
- An afternoon walk in the Vauvenargues area, where Picasso spent the last years of his life
- A full day walk in the National Park of the “calanques”, the rocky creeks of the Mediterranean Sea allowing you to discover the typical vegetation of this area.
Hiking shoes (or equivalent) are highly recommended

Discover Gastronomy (DG)
Objectives
Program
- Guided walking tour of Aix-en-Provence city centre, followed by a welcome drink – the perfect opportunity to soak up the local atmosphere and discover the charm of this iconic Provençal town.
- Provençal Apéritif Workshop, accompanied by a glass of wine: prepare and enjoy regional specialities such as tapenade, anchoïade OR cod brandade, as well as courgette rolls filled with fresh goat’s cheese and chives.
- Excursion to a Provençal vineyard, including a guided tour of the estate and a tutored tasting of several wines produced on site. French Bakery Workshop: discover traditional baking techniques and make your own croissant OR baguette before enjoying your freshly baked creations.
- Exploration of Marseille’s historic centre and culinary heritage, featuring tastings of local specialities OR visit to a goat farm and artisanal cheese producer, with a tasting of handcrafted cheeses. Immersion in a traditional Provençal market to select fresh, seasonal ingredients, followed by a cooking class where you will prepare recipes inspired by the local terroir.

Organised by IS Aix-en-Provence, this programme perfectly complements French language learning through activities scheduled on selected afternoons and a half-day on Saturdays. It is available exclusively to participants enrolled in a General French course in the morning or in a minimum of 20 private lessons per week
