Which DELF or DALF Level Should You Choose?

The level you choose depends on your French language skills and the purpose for which you need the diploma.

  • DELF A2: you can understand and communicate in common everyday situations.
  • DELF B1: you can understand the main points of familiar situations and communicate effectively in everyday contexts.
  • DELF B2: you can communicate with greater ease and express and develop your point of view in a range of situations, including academic and professional contexts.
  • DALF C1: you can express yourself independently, clearly and precisely, including when dealing with complex subjects.
  • DALF C2: you have a very advanced command of French and can communicate with a high degree of precision and fluency.

If you need to present your diploma to a university, school, company or administrative authority, make sure to check the level required by the organisation concerned.
